Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. Orphaned Eastern Cottontail
Eastern cottontails started arriving in mid-March. Hundreds will find their way to us this spring and summer. Many are attacked by domestic pets or predated on by other wild animals. Sometimes they are injured when homeowners are mowing or landscaping. If you find a rabbit in need of help, bringing it in for care as soon as possible is essential. They need appropriate formula and quiet surroundings. Here is one of our first cottontails this season! They grow quickly and some have already been released!
