Patient Profiles

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. You can also see posts on our social media pages.

Going Batty!

This is the time of year when many juvenile bats are out on their own for the first time and they sometimes get into trouble. We have had a record number of bats arrive in the past few weeks. The top image is a Long-eared bat, the bottom one is a Little Brown bat. We’ve also seen a Big Brown bat in the past week. Remember that not all bats are rabid. Certainly do not handle them without thick gloves and be sure to get it into a secure box. Better yet try to scoop it gently into a box without handling it at all. Please call us with questions or concerns. Bats are important to our ecosystem and we are here to get help! Status: transferred for continued care to our colleagues at Happy Valley Bats.
