In late June, we had three different raccoon rescues within one week. These three rescues involved four kits - all of them stuck in fences.
One of the rescues involved two siblings. If you look closely you can see there are two babies - one on top of the other - backwards.
Fortunately, one was saved and reunited with mom this morning after the rescue. She is in the one photo on the top of the fence.
Sadly, the other had severe and irreparable fractures. Of the four babies we have rescued only two were able to be saved. Another from last week is in our care and recovering.
We sometimes have no choice but to offer compassionate euthanasia. It is always rewarding to go out on rescues, even if the animal is not able to be rehabilitated, we can help end their suffering.
