Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. Hooded Merganser

This juvenile Hooded Merganser was found alone in a yard in Snohomish. It was likely separated from its family, or was left behind for some reason. It was emaciated and in need of help. We are hopeful that it got to us in time to be rehabilitated and can eventually be released. Status - died. Sadly, on 7/29/16, it was found deceased. Necropsy revealed that the Merganser was suffering from aspergillosis. So, due the emaciation, dehydration, and infection - this bird was not able to recover.
