This juvenile Purple Martin came out of the nest just a few days too early to fly. It arrived on 8/17 and now has almost all its feathers and should be released soon. We don't even remember the last time we saw one of these as a patient.
These large swallows were once extremely rare to find in our area, but they are making a recovery in the Puget Sound. You can read more about these pretty purple birds here. Status - released.
