Patient Profiles

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. You can also see posts on our social media pages.

Great horned owl

Sadly, she was found stuck in netting over a chicken coop. It was a very rainy day, and she was not found for several hours. By the time she was cut from the net, she was soaking wet and had a compound fracture (open and bone exposed) on her right foot. The left foot also had some issues from an unrelated bumble foot infection.

Our vet, Dr. Kovar, amputated the toe and it is healing up nicely. Status: released.
