Patient Profiles

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. Tree Rescue!

This Virginia Opossum was found tied in a bag and hung in a tree. He was discovered at a local park and the rescuers brought him to us. It was 85* and someone had left him for dead. He is so lucky he was found. He is a juvenile and scared, he was a bit dehydrated but otherwise is in good health. The purple bag was a Royal Crown whiskey bag. We reported the case to law enforcement and the parks department, as this was criminal and sociopathic behavior. Thank you to the rescuer for sharing this photo of his rescue. Status: Released.
