Patient Profiles

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. You can also see posts on our social media pages.

Bald Eagle Shot

This eagle was discovered in La Conner and was unable to fly. He was rescued and brought to us. Radiographs indicated that he had been shot. This illegal activity was reported to the authorities and our vet, Dr. Kovar performed surgery to stabilize the fracture and close up the wounds. Our intern, Callie, learned how to assist and monitor anesthesia during the procedure. Status: euthanized. Sadly, he continued to get worse despite treatment. He developed a chronic infection and his blood work indicated he was not responding to treatment.
