Patient Profiles

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. You can also see posts on our social media pages.

Anna's Hummingbird

He was cold and lethargic. He was actually in torpor trying to conserve energy. This is going to be a COLD week and if you are feeding hummingbirds in the area, you can also put up a heat lamp outside to keep the feeders from freezing and provide some additional warmth for these guys. He will be fine and we will release him after the cold snap. There is a video on our YouTube channel of him flying around his cage. Status: Died. Sadly, he passed away shortly after this posting. He was likely too stressed from his ordeal.
