Patient Profiles

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. We see over 3,000 patients annually. Over 135 different species come to us for care. In an effort to tell their stories of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we try to share some of their stories here. You can also see posts on our social media pages.

Emaciated Red-tailed Hawk

By Sarvey Wildlife / Monday, December 20, 2021 /

This hawk was rescued in Granite Falls by our staff. He was not flying and seemed to be in distress. He is suffering from emaciation, but has no serious injuries. Emaciated patients are a challenge and their prognosis is always guarded. Many die as their organs have started to shut down. We start them on a special protocol to re-hydrate and get their digestive track working again. It requires skill, patience, and luck to get them to recover. Status: released
