Patient Updates

Every day new patients arrive at our facility. In an effort to tell their story of survival and highlight the diverse number of species that we rehabilitate, we highlight a new patient each week. Some of these are individuals, others are orphaned siblings. As their cases progress - we will update the outcome - our hope is that many, many of these patients are released!

Banded Barn Owl

This owl was found near Lake Stevens after being hit by a car. It was brought to us for help and had a federal bird band attached. Turned out that the band was actually one we had on record. Last spring, this owl and 5 of his siblings were raised here when they arrived as orphans. They were all successfully released in early September. Sadly, he was returned to our care after being injured last week. We typically have all of our orphaned raptors banded, so we can track progress and hopefully get statistical data over time. Every once in a while, a banded bird is returned. We are treating him for an injury to one eye. Status: released
