      Spring Has Sprung

Babies April 2023Cottontails and orphaned Eastern Gray Squirrels are some of the first babies of the season.

Over the next few months, hundreds more will arrive along with songbirds, goslings, ducklings and more!

While it is still cold and rainy at times, spring is on the horizon. Flowers and blossoms are starting to appear and so are the first babies at our center. Baby owlets, orphaned squirrels and cottontails are keeping us busy. We are still caring for the 3 bear cubs that came in this winter. They are now out of hibernation and eating a LOT every day. Your donations help cover the expenses for formula, produce, nuts, and medications that are essential to raising these young patients. Thank you to our monthly donors, all of you that contribute when dropping off a patient for care, and those that have specifically made generous donations to our Capital Campaign for the new hospital building.

Bears April 2023

Top: This lone bear cub was found in Leavenworth and came to us last month. He was orphaned and hungry and weighed only 22 lbs. He was not hibernating and at risk of dying due to dehydration and starvation. He is gaining weight and now has a chance to be released and survive as a wild bear.

Bottom: These two cubs (brothers) were orphaned last November and have been with us all winter. The are much bigger weighing about 90 lbs. All three will be released late spring.

We have 4 Great Horned owlets in care. They are growing quickly and eating dozens of mice each day!

Save The Date

gO wild Gala march 23 2024

The date has been set for our next fundraiser gala, Saturday, March 23, 2024, and we are excited about our new location at the Lynnwood Event Center. We decided to push the event off to early next spring, as we anticipate being very busy with our hospital construction project this summer and fall. We hope you will join us for this fun event. Tickets will go on sale later this spring, but donations for our raffle, and live and silent auctions can be dropped off anytime.

Ways You Can Help

We were disappointed to learn that the customer giving feature through Amazon Smile was canceled by the company. But thank you to all of you that instead decided to become a monthly donor to help make up that revenue loss for us! There are other opportunities to support us by sending us supplies using our new Chewy Wish List or our Amazon Wish List. We also appreciate gift cards to Costco and local grocery stores. Or you can purchase adorable merchandise items from our website. All proceed directly help our efforts to Rescue, Rehabilitate, and Release wildlife in our state.
